OP11,OP11,Comments from user about OP11: Integration of the floating point unit first as a separate integrated circuit and then as part of the same microprocessor chip, speeded up floating point calculations. LEDs present many advantages over incandescent light sources including lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, improved robustness, smaller size, faster switching, and greater durability and reliability. Microprocessor control of a system can provide control strategies that would be impractical to implement using electromechanical controls or purpose-built electronic controls. Generally, in datasheets, turn-off energy is mentioned as a measured parameter and one has to multiply that number with the switching frequency of the intended application to estimate the turn-off loss. This can be seen in figure 2. One disadvantage of the thyristor for switching circuits is that once it is 'latched-on' in the conducting state it cannot be turned off by external control. This creates a much larger current between the collector and emitter, controlled by the base-emitter current. Basically, an IGBT is a bipolar transistor driven by a power MOSFET: it has the advantages of being a minority carrier device (good performance in on-state, even for high voltage devices), with the high input impedance of a MOSFET (it can be driven on or off with a very low amount of power).
