MSC1994,MSC1994,Comments from user about MSC1994: The integrated circuit's mass production capability, reliability, and building-block approach to circuit design ensured the rapid adoption of standardized ICs in place of designs using discrete transistors. Synthesis is a process where a VHDL is compiled and mapped into an implementation technology such as an FPGA or an ASIC. Its importance in today's society rests on its ability to be mass produced using a highly automated process (semiconductor device fabrication) that achieves astonishingly low per-transistor costs. Both versions can run 32-bit legacy applications without any performance penalty as well as new 64-bit software. One barrier to achieving higher performance through instruction-level parallelism stems from pipeline stalls and flushes due to branches. Most power semiconductor devices are only used in commutation mode (i.e they are either on or off), and are therefore optimized for this.
